Cohort sum deviates from the scheme total (consistency check)

Symptom

Schema-valid, but the fiduciary or investment administrator reports a reconciliation difference at scheme level.

Cause

pension.scheme.startAmount was determined from another source or at another moment than the cohort amounts, or empty cohorts were treated inconsistently.

Fix

Calculate the scheme total as the sum of the cohorts at the same valuation date; the WTP Data Lab validator performs this consistency check.
